Chimney Inspections
St Louis Chimney Cleaning’s Inspections Give You Peace of Mind.
When performing a proper, thorough, and reliable chimney inspection, there are no shortcuts. Our 80-point chimney inspection method is designed to uncover any and every defect or issue—no matter how small. Small cracks, separations, or flue liner abnormalities can lead to serious, even life-threatening problems. An ill-fitting flue liner, gaps, cracks, debris (bird nests), creosote buildup, and other chimney and flue issues can lead to more significant problems if not caught early on. Carbon monoxide poisoning can result from a damaged or deteriorating chimney flue liner, and deadly chimney fires can also result from a neglected or defective chimney and flue system.
Missouri Home Inspections don’t require chimney inspections, so buyers and sellers may face unexpected issues and costs if they buy or sell a home with a wood-burning chimney. Be sure your home’s fireplace and chimney are operational and safe by calling the pros at St Louis Chimney Cleaning.
There are three “levels” of Chimney Inspections, and we perform all of them.
A Level One Inspection does the following:
Visual check of your home’s chimney and fireplace without getting on the roof. Many chimney inspectors will only check with a flashlight and check for creosote buildup. Following the inspection, they will clean the area. This type of visual inspection is inadequate to determine whether your chimney, flue, and chimney system are in proper order and without issues.
A Level Two Inspection Includes a Level One Inspection plus:
We use a video scanning tool. We use the state-of-the-art camera, the Chim-Scan ®. This tool is the best way to view and photograph any chimney issues. We always do this level. Less skilled inspectors or cheap chimney inspections can miss many issues. These issues can be big problems for the homeowner, buyer, or home seller. They can also cost thousands if neglected.
Level Two Inspections are recommended for any homeowner who uses their fireplace annually, is purchasing or has already purchased a St Louis home, has suffered storm damage or a tornado, or wants to ensure that this vital system is maintained and safe. We always deliver this Level of service and thorough chimney inspection and cleaning when we visit your St Louis home.
A Level Three Chimney Inspection is the most severe and intrusive level of inspection.
A Level Three Chimney Inspection is generally performed on a home after a chimney fire or other extensive damage to the chimney caused by storms. This entails typically demolishing the damaged chimney, rebuilding the walls, and installing a new flue and chimney cap. In short, this is considered a complete rebuild of the chimney, liner, and entire chimney system.
