Chimney Cleaning

Cleaning a Chimney is dirty and dangerous work…

brick_chimneyWhen it comes to inspecting and cleaning your chimney, we cut no corners.

Before we roll up our sleeves and get to the dirty work of chimney sweeping, we do one of the most thorough inspections in the St Louis metro area.  First, we will get up on the roof to inspect the chimney cap or crown and inspect for obstructions, including bird’s nests, squirrel nests, and other debris-like branches. You’d be surprised what we’ve found in St. Louis chimneys. We also like to get a close roofline view, including for missing flashing–the part of your roof that comes in contact with the chimney. Leaking or missing flashing is responsible for a good amount of chimney leaks.

We run our chimney rods and heavy-duty brushes through your chimney to ensure we thoroughly loosen and remove the dangerous soot buildup, often called creosote.

We use HEPA-filter, heavy-duty commercial vacuums to help capture the flaking creosote and dust kicked up during the brushing or chimney sweeping. We strive to keep your home and fireplace mantel area clean. We also put tarps down to protect your home. All our chimney sweeps must wear safety gear and are trained to inspect the chimney and clean thoroughly, professionally, and safely.<

After the chimney sweeping is completed, we take another look with flashlights and our Chimney-Scan to ensure that we’ve done a thorough job.

We’re still not done. Proper chimney cleaning also requires cleaning from the interior and back up through the fireplace.

We run small brushes into the smoke chamber and up to the damper, vacuuming any soot or debris left on the smoke shelf.

Finally, it’s time for the last step—scrub out the firebox and inspect the condition of the parts.  We will replace any worn parts if required.
